Research notes

Press accounts of the Savannah-based fibre artist Trish Andersen, who grew up in Dalton, Georgia. Her grandfather moved to Dalton from Chicago in 1949 to sell latex to the carpet industry (NPR, 2021). She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in fibers in 2005 (Simply Buckhead). A friend sent her a viral video of women hand-tufting rugs in 2016 (Simply Buckhead). In 2018 she made a stair runner "that looked like paint running down the stairs", and the response on Instagram convinced her to pursue rugs (Business of Home, 18 Nov 2021); Cover Magazine (7 Jan 2022) says her rug output took off when the runner became an online hit in 2018. She launched a rug collection inspired by the runner in September 2021, with designs named Mixy, Pure and Splat (Cover Magazine); her wool rug line is tufted in India through a Dalton-based partner manufacturer, Lapama Rugs (one account). Instagram: @trishandersenart (the handle shown in the post embedded in NPR's 18 April 2021 story "'Renegade' Rug Makers Create Community, Tufting On TikTok"). Her studio's own account of her work is in u-mvvp1gk2clqms. Research note (Oct 2026): from search results; pages not opened.
