Research notes

A San Diego fibre artist whose punch-needle work sculpts the pile by trimming loops to cut pile at different heights; she works with Oxford punch needles, a deluxe rug needle and a tufting gun (Punch Needle World, "Artist Interview: Venus Perez"). A tufted portrait, "Frida Kahlo", by an artist named Venus Perez was shown in Pile Paragons at TuftCon '23 in Philadelphia (WHYY caption; see event-tuftcon-2023); that she is the same artist is likely but not stated by either source. Instagram: @fun.n.rec, as given by the punch-needle artist Andie Solar in Rug Hooking Magazine ("One of my Instagram friends, venus @fun.n.rec, has been sculpting for a while"); the author gave the name as func.n.rec, so the spelling is to confirm.
