Research notes

Radhe Rathi left his family's textile export business and in 1996 started trading rugs abroad (reportedly selling from a van in the US), then moved into manufacturing; a US distribution arm, Kaleen Rugs & Broadloom, followed in 1997. With his brother Monty he set up plants in Panipat, Mirzapur and Bikaner, making hand-knotted, hand-tufted, flatweave and power-loom rugs. Group turnover Rs 250 crore (FY20). Why it matters: a modern exporter-importer of the Jaipur Living type, spanning the main Indian tufting centres (Panipat and Mirzapur–Bhadohi). Dates: 1996 agreed (YourStory, Domotex); family business start given as early 1980s (company) vs 1966 (Domotex).
