Research notes

Founded in 1954 by Shaheen Shaheen (a former chenille-company salesman) and his wife Piera. One of the first carpet firms to integrate from spinning to delivery, with the industry's first in-house trucking division; in 1968 it was the first to run a Küster continuous dyeing range. Merged with Mohawk in November 1998 (see co-mohawk). Why it matters: a major independent Dalton tufter of the boom years and an innovator in dyeing tufted carpet. Dates: 1954 and 1998 confirmed by Georgia Encyclopedia and WFCA Hall of Fame. "First" claims come from those biographies.
