Research notes
CORRECTED. The brief said Ningxia carpets are more than 50% of the Palace Museum's 1,000+ carpets. Xinhua (2024) says 300+ of nearly 1,000 (about 30%), and that most of those Ningxia carpets came from Zhongwei. "Over half" looks like a misreading of 大半, which refers to Zhongwei's share. Ningxia handmade carpet weaving was listed as national intangible heritage in 2021. The brief's original wording: "Of the 1,000+ carpets in the Palace Museum collection, Ningxia carpets are more than 50%." Citation check (Oct 2026, from search results; pages not opened): contradicted. Xinhua says that of the nearly 1,000 Ming–Qing carpets in the Palace Museum, 300+ are Ningxia carpets (about 30–33%), and that most of THOSE come from Zhongwei. '>50%' looks like a misreading of 大半 (most), which refers to the Zhongwei share of the Ningxia carpets. Ningxia handmade carpet weaving was listed as national intangible heritage in 2021. The '1,000+' total should be 'nearly 1,000'. Source: 故宫收藏的宁夏手工毯,原来是这样…… (The Ningxia handmade carpets in the Palace Museum collection), 新华网 Xinhua, 2024-07-27.
