Research notes

東リ (Toli), founded 1919 as 東洋リノリユーム, was a linoleum and resilient-flooring maker; its first carpet was a needlepunch sold from June 1967 (the Teijin joint venture the brief mentioned wasn't found). 日本絨氈 (Nihon Jūtan, Sakai) installed its first Wilton loom in 1955 but a tufting machine only in 1981, a 26-year gap. Citation check (Oct 2026, from search results; pages not opened): partly confirmed. Nihon Jūtan is CONFIRMED by its own history: 昭和30年(1955) 'ウイルトン機械1号機設置、カーペット製造に着手'; 昭和56年(1981) Sakai-Takasago plant completed, 'タフテッドカーペット機導入操業開始'. Toli: June 1967 needlepunch carpet sales start (O.I.C.) is confirmed in its yuho. The Teijin joint venture is NOT found. Toli was founded in 1919 as 東洋リノリユーム (a linoleum maker, with US tech tie-up), so 'vinyl tile company' is imprecise; 'linoleum/resilient-flooring maker' is safer.
