Research notes

10-minute training video. Hagley summary: "From chemicals to yarn. An in-depth look at the creation of superpolymer Type 66 Nylon, a synthetic fiber made for use in commercial carpets. Details how scientists manipulate specific compounds and apply heat and pressure to create the fiber, and why it's strong enough to withstand a large amount of wear and tear. Released by The Learning Center, DuPont Flooring Systems." Why it matters: Nylon chapter: DuPont's own explanation of how its nylon 6,6 carpet fibre was made, useful for describing the fibre side of tufted carpet. Late (1991), so background rather than evidence for the 1950s questions. Found: Hagley Digital Archives, search "carpet fiber", 2026-10-28.
