Research notes
DLG description: "Sugar Valley, mid 1930s. Employees of the J.M. Muse Spread Mfg. Company pose for a photograph on a truck belonging to the business. Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Muse, Sr. were pioneers in the tufted bedspread industry in Gordon County." Related Vanishing Georgia photographs: J. Marvin Muse and dogs, Sugar Valley, 1934 (gor272); the home of J. M. Muse, Sugar Valley, 1976 (gor071). Why it matters: Building the machine, open question "a joint Cobble-Muse patent": documents the Muse family's spread company in the mid-1930s; useful for identifying which Muse worked with Cobble. Found: Digital Library of Georgia, search "tufted", 2026-10-28.
