Research notes

Trade journal volumes held by NYPL and scanned by HathiTrust (search-only), matching the phrase "tufted carpet" from 1956 onward; Skinner's record of the man-made fibres industry (1956, 1957) also matches. Pages not identified. (Carpet Review is believed to be British; confirm.) Why it matters: Tufting abroad, open questions on the first tufting machines in Britain and Europe: a run of 1956-58 trade-journal volumes that discuss tufted carpet; searching inside each for "tufting" would give dated reports. Found: HathiTrust full-text search, "tufted carpet", 2026-10-28.
