Research notes

NMAH record: Object Name "Placard"; title "NRA Code Candlewick Bedspread"; made for the National Recovery Administration; red, white and blue cardboard; 14 x 11 in; date made 1934; patent number Des. 90793 (presumably the NRA eagle design patent). Why it matters: Dalton bedspreads: physical evidence that the candlewick bedspread trade had its own NRA code of fair competition in 1934, i.e. was recognised as a national industry. The code's text (and its wage terms) would be in NRA records. Found: Smithsonian Collections Search, search "candlewick", 2026-10-28.
