Research notes
"This almost magic hooker has completely revolutionized the making of hooked yarn rugs." Also the Bluenose De Luxe Hooker (cuts the time in half; extra-long loops for deep pile), a punch needle, Colonial Rugwool, Special Rug Worsted, Sylvan Yarn, shears and a reversible standing rug frame. Photographed by Tuft the World at Winterthur, January 2023; the photo is in your Google Drive (private link). The Bluenose hooker is very likely John E. Garrett's "Rug Hooker" patent US1605711 (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, 1926; see that record).
