Research notes

Wool ingrain fragment with both selvages and a striped wool binding. Historic New England holds several more: GUSN-8722 (1959.6, 1850–70, strapwork and eight-pointed stars, from Jacob's Farmhouse, Mass.), GUSN-8664 (1993.507, 1850–80, diamond-and-vine), GUSN-24021 (1998.4941.7, Castle Tucker, 1860–90) and an 1899 Chicago ingrain sample (GUSN-8690). The selvages show the narrow loom width that was sewn into room-size carpet. Catalogue date ranges are estimates.
