Research notes

No German tufting-machine builder appears in any source found; German Wikipedia credits the machine lineage to the US/UK (Looper, the Cobble brothers, Card-Monroe). Germany's contribution is components: Groz-Beckert needles. Citation check (Oct 2026, from search results; pages not opened): partly confirmed. Mostly holds: no German builder of industrial broadloom tufting machines was found. DeWiki names Looper, Cobble & Muse and Card-Monroe (founded 1981), and calls Groz-Beckert a leading gauge-parts supplier. Counterexample to the literal wording: the same article names Hofmann Handtuft-Technik GmbH as the German firm making professional HAND-tufting machines (guns). Several German-filed tufting-machine patents (DE1685151B2, DE2014354A1 …) exist, but their assignees were not checked. Source: Tufting – DeWiki (mirror of German Wikipedia 'Tufting').
