Research notes

Rogers Fund, 1913. The Met's notes stress that the pile is needleworked, not hooked, a distinction once misunderstood. That makes it a direct technical ancestor of hand tufting. The Met also holds a 1796 bed rug with an Indian Tree of Life motif shared with a Historic Deerfield rug.
